I’m a post-doctoral researcher at King’s College London studying how our hands and arms are affected after a traumatic brain or spinal cord injury, and how we might be able to reverse the paralysis these injuries induce.

I did my PhD in Neuroscience at King’s College London and was supervised by Dr. Lawrence Moon and Dr. Dhireshan Gadiagellan, whose start-up, Research Devices Ltd, I collaborate with and offer consultation, in addition to my academic research duties at King’s. Our partnership began when we commercialised a small gadget I invented to help researchers carry out preclinical dosing, sold now to every continent, and many reputable pharmaceutical companies.

Since then, I have used Machine Learning, Computer Vision and robotics to create solutions to automate many of the behavioural tests we use to evaluate whether a potential drug therapy might reverse paralysis. See here for an example. My prototypes have lead to the awarding of research contracts which are still ongoing now. I use Raspberry Pis, 3D printing and Python 3 to prototype devices, mainly, and design hardware using SolidWorks.
